The chocolate cake on my blog is in the top 5 posts and with good reason, it is both easy to make and it tastes divine. I decided to give the cake a little face lift. My kids and I as well as the swahili food fam over on Instagram. Cannot get enough of it. I mean, it even looks good! Can you imagine this cake sitting on your counter? Beautiful! Just the cheer we need in 2020.

Chocolate & Orange Cake
Ingredients
Cake:
- 2 cups 287 gms all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup 52 gms cocoa powder
- 1 cup 33 gms date syrup
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1/4 tsp cloves powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 Eggs
- 1 cup 87 gms black coffee (2 tsp instant coffee in a cup of hot water, make sure it’s cool before adding to the batter)
- 1/2 cup 61 gms vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup 120 gms Milk
Cream cheese frosting
- 180 g cream cheese I use Philadelphia
- 2 tbsp soft butter
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 2 tbsp orange rind
- Add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well.
Chocolate icing
- 250 gms Chocolate
- 230 gms Cream I used nestle canned cream
- Add chocolate to a bowl and melt. let it cool slightly then add the cream and mix well. Ice your cake
