Child hood memories are a huge source of inspiration in my cooking today. They say the smell and taste of something can send one on a trip down memory lane – this certainly rings true for me when I make my mothers french apple tart. From the time its in the oven, I am instantly whisked back to my mothers kitchen where I waited with beaming eyes for the tart to be ready. My sisters and i always fought for the last piece!
