FISH KEBABS | CROQUETTES

July 29, 2017

My mother isn’t a huge fan of fish which meant we rarely ate it as I was growing up. This was a sad affair given that I grew up at the Coast where there was fish galore! Luckily, I became an adult and finally became the boss of my own kitchen. I have several fish recipes that can also be used to win over non-fish lovers.

Here’s an easy fish kebab recipe that’s great for your kids lunch box, a biting or even as a meal served with a side gravy and rice.

Hope you love it as much as I do.

Hugs.

Fish kebabs (croquettes)

Tuna Mix

  • 1 Tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp grated onion
  • 1 tsp Spanish paprika
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli powder
  • 250 gms tuna steaks
  • 2 lemons; juiced
  • 1 tbsp salt

Extra ingredients

  • 2 potatoes ; Mashed
  • 2 tbsp coriander; roughly chopped
  • Bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs; lightly whisked
  • Oil for frying
  1. Add all the ingredients to the pan and mix well. Make sure the Tuna steaks are well coated in the spices.
  2. Cover and cook on medium heat for 15-20 min.
  3. Once cooked, set aside to cool.
  4. In a separate bowl add mashed potatoes, coriander and then break the tuna chunks into small pieces
  5. Mix well and add a squeeze or two of lemon. Taste to test if the salt and lemon are enough.
  6. Grab a handful of the potato-tuna mix and shape. Repeat with all the kebabs
  7. Dip the shaped kebab into the egg and then roll in the breadcrumbs
  8. Repeat until all the mixture has been shaped and crumbed 🙂
  9. Heat oil in a semi deep pan
  10. Add the kebabs and fry on medium heat until golden brown
  11. Transfer to kitchen paper
  12. Enjoy
