Mshikaki are small, succulent pieces of meat that are skewered and roasted over charcoal. They’re marinated before being cooked and this packs them with a lovely, juicy flavor. The charcoal gives them a slightly smoky taste which when coupled with the marinade makes them mouthwatering and oh, so irresistible.
The best accompaniment is garlic, buttered naan bread. I am being very specific here. Not chapati, which would still go well, and not plain naan but garlic, buttered naan. This will have you humming as you eat your food.
In Mombasa you can sit on the side of the road in a place called Makadara and have these for just 10 bob per stick. With 200 Kshs which is about 2 dollars you’ll get your naan and mishkaki and be stuffed and happy
Looks very good. Will have try.
Yummy Yummy Mashaallah..will definately try them
Let me know how it goes. hugs!
This mouth-watering food reminds me so much of Dar-es-Salaam. Are you from there by any chance? I lived on Ring Street, which was renamed Jamhuri Street. ‘A’ tea shop was my favourite restaurant followed by Naaz which is close to Odeon cinema.
I hate when people say something that made in Africa in an amazing way. Mshikaki is very popular in Sashili Countries like Tanzania and Kenya
I meant Swahili countries sorry **
Not sure i understand your comment, Mishkaki is popular in East Africa but also in parts of the middle East like Oman. They call it Mshakik in the middle east.
